WELCOME TO THE ADMISSIONS COUNSELORS'
OVERTIME LAWSUIT AGAINST KEISER UNIVERSITY WEBSITE
On June 24, 2011, Louise Sealy – a former Admissions Counselor of Keiser University filed this lawsuit under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (the “FLSA”) against Keiser University in federal court, in the Southern District of Florida, claiming that she had not been paid properly for her overtime hours worked. The bases for Ms. Sealy’s claims are that Keiser University did not pay for all her overtime hours worked and that the payments that were actually made were made at a lower overtime rate than allowed. Ms. Sealy maintains that her overtime should have been compensated at the rate of time and one half her regular rate and not the rate paid by Keiser University.
On November 8, 2011, the U.S. District
Court entered an Order allowing the lawsuit to proceed as a
collective action on behalf of all former and current
Admissions
Counselors of Keiser University, in all of its campuses
throughout Florida.
In order to join the dozens who have already opted into this lawsuit, become part of this collective action, and participate in this lawsuit as a Plaintiff, current and former Admissions Counselors have to file consent forms. In December 2011, consent forms were mailed to all Admissions Counselors identified by Keiser University who worked in that position since June 24, 2008. On January 19, 2012, additional consent forms were mailed to Admissions Counselors who worked since June 24, 2008 in the e-campus, and whose names were not previously disclosed by Keiser University. The deadline for Admissions Counselors to participate in this lawsuit is
February 29, 2012 (all campuses other than e-campus). The deadline to participate in this lawsuit for Admissions Counselors who have worked in the e-campus is
April 2, 2012.
If, for whatever reason, you have been an Admission Counselor for Keiser University at any time between June 24, 2008 and the present, but have not received the Notice regarding this lawsuit and a consent form, lost yours, or if you have any question regarding this lawsuit, please contact us as soon as possible.
